The fifth Tbilisimarathon was held on October 23, 2016. With its increased popularity, the event has gained much more scale. Exclusively for the race, the traffic roads leading to the central streets were blocked. Representatives of up to 60 countries, overall 120 teams participated in the event and total of 2346 people were registered. The funds raised from the registration reached 23 000 GEL, which was doubled by HeidelbergCement and transferred (46 000 GEL) for the construction of the first Children's Hospice in Georgia.

From 2015, TbilisiMarathon is also listed as an official member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). As a result, the race is the first in Caucasus, to hold the international status and therefore, the winners’ results are accredited worldwide.

Tbilisimarathon is being held fairly, with full compliance to international standards, since results of the race were counted by the traditional partner - German Company “mika timing” with internationally recognized “Official Timekeeping and Data Processing” system.

Tbilisimarathon is fully supported by Tbilisi City Hall, German Embassy in Georgia and Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs in Georgia.

Besides promoting healthy lifestyle and charity, Tbilisimarathon also aims at developing tourism and promoting the city of Tbilisi worldwide. Furthermore, the event also includes pasta party and entertainment program: award ceremony, concert, and presents for the winners.

Promotion of a healthy lifestyle is an integral part of Health & Safety programs that represent a major aspect of HeidelbergCement corporate policy, which together with the charity contribution are the main reasons for holding the Tbilisimarathon.
